Interesting facts about Schwabing
Schwabing is not a place, but a condition, said Fanny Gräfin zu Reventlow, the most famous Schwabinger of all time. Made famous by its artist bohemia and student riots, it is one of Munich’s best-known neighborhoods. Today, however, things are more civilized here. Once created as a farming village, centuries later the university and the English Garden gave the neighborhood its reputation as an artists’ district.
What are the cultural offerings in Schwabing like?
Schwabing is known as a mecca for cabaret; here you will find the Lustspielhaus, the Vereinsheim and also the Lach- und Schießgesellschaft venues.
